☀️ Shine Brighter as only you can...an update from Laura

Your Peak of the Week

Hey Reader,

Welcome back to Peak of the Week — where we talk about what it really takes to live your life and career at your peak.

This Week →

  • I'm BACKKKKKK!!!!!
  • No, UNLOK Human Potential didn't go anywhere
  • Why it's time to Shine Brighter

Where to start

Where to start. Welp…

This has been one of the most beautiful 12 months of my life (since releasing my first book, Shine Brighter)

It has also been one of the hardest.

I’ve experienced incredible joy, meaningful growth, and moments that have changed me forever. I’ve also walked through seasons of grief, loss, disappointment, and letting go.

I’ve learned that both can exist at the same time.

You can be grieving something while simultaneously believing your best chapter is still ahead of you.

You can mourn what was while feeling deeply hopeful for what will be.

I entered a business accelerator program last fall, thinking things would need to look a certain way by the end of that program.

As life does what it does, it teaches us that we are not in control. There are forces well beyond us that alter our course.

So rather than push and force, we must allow.

But that is REALLY hard when you're a type-A overachiever :)

One of the greatest lessons I've learned over these last 12 months is that the story we tell ourselves creates our external reality.

The same experience can be viewed as a loss or as a gain.

As an ending or as a beginning.

As something that happened to us or something that happened for us.

I became attached to a picture of how I thought my life and career were supposed to unfold. I had the future all made up in my mind.

And then it didn’t happen the way I thought. Or wanted.

But, wait for it, the beautiful part of what I realized through these hardships:

Reality isn’t fixed.

It is something we get to help write. Remember, you hold the pen…

And that realization has filled me with an inner peace that lets me know it’s all going to be okay.

UNLOK Human Potential, the business I created with Jason Player, still exists, but it's going to look a lot different than my ego wanted it to. This is the part where I loosen my grip and allow rather than force.

Because if I've learned anything on this journey...it's all about FAITH.

Faith.

Unshakable faith. Faith that there is goodness ahead. Faith that every experience is shaping us into a more powerful, expansive version of ourselves.

Faith that when we stay connected to something greater than ourselves, fear begins to loosen its grip.

When we remember that we are deeply loved, deeply guided, and never truly alone, we begin to live from a place of love rather than fear.

And… here’s the other lesson I learned by coaching dozens of professionals and hosting dozens of Pursue Your Purpose workshops these last two years:

You are far more magnificent than you probably give yourself credit for.

There is brilliance inside of you that you don’t see.

You were created with gifts that only you can bring into the world, and I genuinely believe you came here to create a beautiful life. Not one free from hardship, but one filled with purpose, peace, joy, freedom, kindness, and love.

So today, I want to leave you with one invitation. And yes, I am such a dork like this, and I hope you love it. These messages burst out of me, and I cannot contain them. Ready for the invitation??? You sure??? Ok, here it is:

Touch the dream that's still alive in your heart

Even if it’s been buried beneath responsibility.

Even if disappointment has convinced you it’s too late.

Even if fear has whispered that you’re not enough or there’s not enough.

Just touch it. Then ask yourself: Why is this dream important to me?

And when you have an answer…

Ask why again.

And again.

And again.

Keep peeling back the layers.

Eventually you’ll discover that beneath every dream is something beautifully human.

We all long for many of the same things.

To feel peace. To experience joy. To love and be loved.

To feel free. To know we matter. To be fully ourselves.

Thank you for continuing to be part of this community. Whether we’ve met in person, worked together, crossed paths online, or simply shared this space through these emails, I’m grateful you’re here.

I’m excited to be back in your inbox more regularly…to be clear, not because I have life figured out, but because I want us to navigate this beautiful, messy journey together.

And I’d love to hear from you.

Seriously. Hit reply. Send me an email. If you have my number, send me a text or a voice memo (iykyk)

Tell me what’s bringing life to you.

Tell me what’s heavy.

Tell me the dream you’re holding onto.

Thank you for being here.

With belief in your magnificence,

Laura

THE WEEKLY Hey, it's Laura and Jason. Welcome to Issue #10 of The Weekly UNLOK, where human potential meets organizational performance.
